Taken one afternoon at a local rookery when one of the three white heron chicks stood guard while its siblings slept.  Not the prettiest of babies but couldn't resist nonetheless.
Increasingly protected by law from removal, roadside memorials like this one for a young man slain in Gary, IN, are turning roadsides into poignant reminders of lives lost.
Found this abandoned spider web with glistening dew drops in our yard.  Went inside to grab the camera and made sure to focus on the webbing at an odd angle.
