12th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest
Deadvlei - Sossusvlei, Namibia. It was 5pm when we reached the top of the last dune before getting to Deadvlei. It looked like a Roman theater surrounded by sand dunes. The dead trees blackened by the heat and sun stood in the middle of the parched clay
soil. I got to the bottom, waited for the light to get better and for most people to leave and tried to be more creative than the many photographers who were there before me knowing very well that this would be a very difficult task.
