13th Annual Smithsonian.com Photo Contest
This concept came up to my mind a couple of weeks ago. I wanted to show a bad feeling that everyone us have felt at least once in life: Angst. I was inspired by Baudelaire's poetry and Leopardi's ones, because we are always waiting for something in life, something that we don't even know and we seek protection from the unkind Nature that has no mercy at all for us. Inherently, this wait turns slowly into pain, annoyance and apathy. We try to ask for help but the draft we are trying to sail is too strong and sweep us away. We feel paralyzed and this suffocating condition we are living makes our existence more livid than it actually is. So we are compelled to wait and live in silence, frightened by the idea of being misunderstood by others.
