Milky Way over Boot Arch
I had scouted the Boot Arch area earlier during daylight hours but still the quarter mile hike in the dark seemed to last longer since there are fewer rocks and features to use as landmarks near this area. And luckily it was chilly enough that any hungry reptiles were were probably asleep.
At the time, I was convinced about which part of the rock is the “Boot”. I did not know the facts until much later. See the comments for the reason behind my confusion. Apparently this is also called "The Lady's Boot Arch”. It sure does not look like something a cowboy would wear. There is still a lot more interesting subjects to shoot in Alabama Hills with its endless possibilities and compositions.
