Bathrooms in History

Outhouses have been a mark in history since the colonial times. In these times it was common for many people to be illiterate, the crescent moon cut out (or in some cases a star cut out) would indicate men or women outhouses. This particular outhouse has a crescent moon indicating a women's facility.
