The photograph above was originally taken in the Winter of 2016, when I decided to create a project hi-lighting the hairstyles of the black community at the Savannah College of Art and Design. The purpose of this project was to glorify African American students. But after the recent election, I decided to spray paint white over different parts of my subject's bodies to show the silencing of the black community. The model above is Amelia Bentley, a performing arts major at the Savannah College of Art and Design.
