The Westerly Armory will be open on Saturday, September 17th for tours of the People's Museum. There is no charge for tours. The museum features community memories and fashions and fun. Wedding gowns from 1923 -1971, toys from the '40s & '50s, menus and post-cards, and antique musical instruments in the display case of The Westerly Band. Come see their "home" at the Armory. Military is also on display with pieces of the original deck of the USS Nautilus, first nuclear-powered vessel in the world and first vessel to go under the North Pole. Local people built the Nautilus and Henry Nardone of Westerly was the Chief Project Engineer. And view the Armory's drill hall, the largest space of its kind in the area.There is something for everyone to see. Open 11-3 for tours on Saturday, September 17th.

Exhibits

Nostalgic tour of both military and community through the Westerly Armory’s artifacts. See a radio-controlled aerial target, predecessor to the drone. See Mary Clancy’s hats and wardrobe, the Kim Kardashian of her time. You’ll be impressed by the size of the drill hall and the atmosphere of the Westerly Band’s room - they are they oldest active community band in the nation.
