The Valentine has been collecting, preserving and interpreting Richmond’s 400-year history for over a century. Located in the heart of historic downtown, the Valentine is a place for residents and tourists to discover the diverse stories that tell the broader history of this important region.
The Valentine has a variety of permanent exhibits including This is Richmond, Virginia, the Edward V. Valentine Sculpture Studio, and Signs of the Times.
On Museum Day our special exhibits will include
-Dressing Identity: Caring for Collections and Understanding Ourselves
-Developing Richmond: Photographs from the Cook Collection
-Monument Avenue: General Demotion General Devotion
Finally we have a historic home which is accessible via regular guided tour, the 1812 Wickham House.
Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis.
