The Texas Prison Museum is home to the Texas Electric Chair,Old Sparky, and many other interesting displays from the 150 plus years of our state’s prison history.


Exhibits will be “Old Sparky”, artifacts from the Texas Prison Rodeo which ran from 1931-1986, a display on Bonnie and Clyde, as well as inmate arts/ crafts and contraband.

Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for and does not endorse the content of the participating museums and cultural venues, and does not subsidize museums that participate.
