St. Marys Submarine Museum
102 St. Marys Street West, St. Marys, GA 31558 - United States
Our museum consists of information and artifacts from the beginning of submarines in the U.S. to present day. Most of what we have has been donated by U.S. military service personnel, family members and friends plus items from our allies and other foreign countries.
We are a museum not only of submarine history but of personal stories and encounters. Our guests can look through a real live Type 8 periscope which is used in many of the submarines today. We have one of the largest collections of original submarine records in the U.S. next to the national archives along with a library filled with books on all subjects related to submarines. Our museum gift shop is full of wonderful items to commemorate your visit such as a submarine pen! We have over 600 patches for just about every submarine plus books, children’s toy submarines, models, T shirts and polo’s, hats, stationary, flags and so much more!
Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for and does not endorse the content of the participating museums and cultural venues, and does not subsidize museums that participate.
