The Sayreville Historical Society Museum building was built in 1884. The building was the first schoolhouse and was originally called Schoolhouse #1.

Exhibits

The majority of the artifacts in the museum highlight and showcase the history of Sayreville, the expansion of industry and life from the colonial period to more current history.

Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for and does not endorse the content of the participating museums and cultural venues, and does not subsidize museums that participate.
