Rim Country Museum & Zane Grey Cabin
700 S Green Valley Parkway, Payson, AZ 85547 - United States
The Rim Country Museum and Zane Grey Cabin are located in Green Valley Park in Payson Arizona, beneath the beautiful Mogollon Rim.
The Zane Grey Cabin is a replica of the cabin that Zane Grey built in 1921 near the top of the Rim. The original cabin was destroyed in the 1990 Dude Fire.
The Rim Country Museum is a 2-story museum that covers the history of the area from the Ancient Peoples, Apaches, rodeo, ranching, mining, and much more. We offer docent led and self-guided tours of the Rim Country Museum and docent led tours of the Zane Grey Cabin. We also have an outside tour that you can take on your own during open hours, with a brochure and map explaining the various exhibits which include the original Tonto Forest Ranger Station, original 1800s log cabin, and a garage housing Payson' first fire truck "Old No. 1".
Both museums and all exhibits will be open on Museum Day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for and does not endorse the content of the participating museums and cultural venues, and does not subsidize museums that participate.
