Rhythm! Discovery Center is the world’s foremost drum and percussion museum; founded by the Percussive Arts Society in 2009. Rhythm! features unique, interactive exhibits highlighting a rich collection of historic artifacts and hands-on percussion instruments. Drawing upon cultures from around the world, Rhythm! offers an incomparable experience in exploring the universality of rhythm and percussion, and its role in shaping communication, music, art, performance and society.

Rhythm! also offers a diverse array of educational programming designed to supplement its interactive exhibits, providing a place for everyone to explore first-hand the world of percussion. Learn about playing techniques, delve into individual instruments, and enjoy musical performances from local and national performing groups. Exhibits Include:

Violins of Hope is a collection of instruments with connections to the Holocaust. Amnon Weinstein, noted luthier, breathes new life into the violins, spending many months lovingly restoring them back to playing condition. Through concerts and exhibitions, the instruments serve as a reminder of Jewish culture that the Nazis unsuccessfully tried to destroy, and honor the survival of the Jewish people

Journey through the Time Tunnel to see how cultures across time have made rhythm an integral part of their lives.

Percussion instruments are used all over the world to create music. Learn about this vast world as you explore and play our collection of instruments in Evolving Sounds. How has percussion changed over time? What new designs have been created?

Discover drum sets used in performance by famous drummers, such as Aaron Spears kit used on Ariana Grande's last tour and Wilco's Glenn Kotche, in Drums and Drummers. Drum sets come in many shapes, sizes, and materials. Play on a variety of drum sets and learn how drummers customize their sets for the perfect sound. Every drummer makes careful choices when selecting layouts and instruments. This exhibit highlights the cooperation between many artists on the path to achieve unique aesthetic and technical goals.

Now’s your chance to dive into the world of percussion. Perfect for adults and kids, Groove Space allows everyone to live the life of a drummer. Try out hundreds of percussion instruments from around the world.
