Montrose County Historical Museum
21 N. Rio Grande, Montrose, CO 81402 - United States
Located in the historic 1912 Denver Rio Grande Railroad Depot the building showcases the stories and dreams of people that have lived in the high-desert Uncompahgre Valley for more then 130 years.
The museum focuses on all facets of early day pioneer life and includes an authentic homesteader's cabin, vintage collection of farm equipment, machinery, an original stagecoach, ice wagon and mining implements.
The Historical Society is celebrating their 50th year anniversary, so the displays are focused on the 50 significant artifacts collections and fun facts of the year 1968.
Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for and does not endorse the content of the participating museums and cultural venues, and does not subsidize museums that participate.
