Select rooms have been researched and and furnished as they would have appeared at the end of the 18th century. A boxwood-lined pathway runs through the garden to the original 18th century summer house or Belvedere, the only one in the country still on its original foundation.

Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for and does not endorse the content of the participating museums and cultural venues, and does not subsidize museums that participate.
