McKinley Presidential Library & Museum
800 McKinley Monument Dr NW, Canton, OH 44708 - United States
We have something for everyone at the McKinley Presidential Library & Museum! Our history galleries include: The McKinley Gallery, featuring the largest collection of McKinley-related artifacts in the world; The Street of Shops, a life-sized indoor 19th century town; The Stark County Story, exploring 200 years of the community that created a president; and the Keller Gallery, for changing exhibitions. We also have an interactive science center called Discover World, and a 65-seat planetarium. The McKinley National Memorial, the final resting place of the president and his family, is located on our grounds.
The Keller Gallery exhibition is "Why Do We Collect?" This exhibition explores questions such as: Why do people collect? Why do museums collect? How should we care for these treasures? How do museums authenticate objects? How do we assign meaning to material objects? Each artifact in the exhibition was carefully selected because of the story provided by its owner.
Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for and does not endorse the content of the participating museums and cultural venues, and does not subsidize museums that participate.
