Lightner Museum

75 King Street, St. Augustine, FL 32084 - United States

Lightner Museum is housed in the former Alcazar Hotel built in1888 by Henry Flagler. Today it is home to one of the best collections of fine and decorative 19th century art in the country.

The current mission of the Museum is to preserve, maintain, research and interpret the Museum’s collection for the educational benefit of the visiting public. The Museum is a non-profit cultural institution sustained by admissions and donations, and it is supported by a dedicated staff and volunteers.

Explore, create and learn! Visitors can explore the museum with a Scavenger Hunt specifically designed for Museum Day, taking them through the open galleries in search of artifacts. After the Scavenger Hunt, come to the Mezzanine level overlooking the historic Alcazar Hotel’s pool to create your own artifact and visit our gift stores. We are looking forward to seeing you!

Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for and does not endorse the content of the participating museums and cultural venues, and does not subsidize museums that participate.
