The Historical Society, primarily a volunteer organization, is based in New Castle, Pennsylvania for the county of Lawrence. The Historical Society was founded in 1938, by the New Castle Rotary at the urging of Attorney Charles Young, who became its first president. Serving Lawrence County.

Exhibits

We will have the Joseph A. Clavelli Cultural Heritage Center open to the public, which includes a full second floor of artifacts and exhibition space. These exhibitions include: The Freedom Room, focusing on our local military involvement; Shenango China, focusing on the vast dinnerware industry within the local history; Bottling Throughout The County, focusing on bottling companies across the county of Lawrence.

Location

Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for and does not endorse the content of the participating museums and cultural venues, and does not subsidize museums that participate.
