Smithsonian Museum

Artifacts, stories, and art intermingle to tell the tale of Colorado and the American West. The museum is designed for multi-generational audiences and consists of over fifteen exhibits spanning four floors, capturing the spirit of Colorado.

Exhibits

We have many core exhibits that tell the diverse stories of Colorado places and people throughout its history. Are exhibits are highly interactive and allows our guests of all ages to engage in CO History through a variety of different mediums.

Our special exhibition that will be displayed during the Smithsonian Free Day on September 17th is Rainbows and Revolutions. Rainbows and Revolutions is about more than just Pride– the exhibit explores how LGBTQ+ people’s very existence in Colorado has been a rebellious act beyond the rainbow, from quiet assertions of identity to loud and proud demonstrations for civil rights and equality.

Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for and does not endorse the content of the participating museums and cultural venues, and does not subsidize museums that participate.
