Harry S Truman Little White House State Historic Landmark
111 Front Street, Key West, FL 33040 - United States
The Little White House is a 9000 square foot house museum used by seven American presidents as a summit site, retreat and the functioning White House of America by Harry Truman. The site contains 85 to 90% original furnishings purchased for President Truman and the one acre botanical gardens have been restored to their 1949 appearance.
The house is as it appeared in March 1949 for use by President Truman. President Truman spent 175 days of his presidency in this house. The gardens have been faithfully restored to their 1949 appearance as well. Temporary exhibits feature photos of six more presidents who used the site as a retreat.
Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for and does not endorse the content of the participating museums and cultural venues, and does not subsidize museums that participate.
