Harriet Beecher Stowe House
2950 Gilbert Avenue, Cincinnati, OH 45206 - United States
The Harriet Beecher Stowe House is an historic house museum and cultural site that is part of the Ohio History Connection network. We tell the story of Harriet and the 18 years that she spent in Cincinnati as instrumental in developing her anti-slavery passion and enabling her to write Uncle Tom’s Cabin. By sharing the story of abolitionism and civil rights in the 19th century, we are able to relate her words and deeds to social justice issues today.
Exhibits
Join us for a tour of the House. We share stories of the Lane Seminary Abolitionist debates, Harriet and the Beecher family in Cincinnati, and the 20th century history of the House.
Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for and does not endorse the content of the participating museums and cultural venues, and does not subsidize museums that participate.
