Conner Prairie is the destination for living history, inviting guests to step into the story and actively experience the connection between today and yesterday. With over 1,000 acres of prairie lands and woods on the White River, Conner Prairie offers education and adventure to more than 400,000 visitors of all ages each year. As Indiana’s first Smithsonian Institute affiliate museum, Conner Prairie provides both outdoor interpretive encounters and indoor experiential learning spaces, melding history and art with science, technology, engineering and math. A 501(c)3, nonprofit organization, Conner Prairie is accredited by the American Alliance of Museums, and relies on grants and philanthropic donations from individuals, corporations, and foundations to fuel its sustainability and growth. Exhibits

Guests will be able to visit our indoor experiences, including Spark!Lab and Discovery Station. Then, step outside and step into the story in our historic districts: The William Conner House, 1816 Lenape Indian Camp, 1836 Prairietown, 1859 Balloon Voyage, and 1863 Civil War Journey. For even more adventure, climb a 4-story treehouse at Treetop Outpost, get up close and personal with our animals at Animal Encounters, take a walk through nature on our numerous trails, or expend some energy at our Ag Adventures Playground.

Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for and does not endorse the content of the participating museums and cultural venues, and does not subsidize museums that participate.
