The Old Cape Henry Lighthouse is the first lighthouse that was built by the Unite States Government. Built in 1792, the Old Cape Henry Lighthouse stood guard over the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay for almost 90 years before the New Cape Henry lighthouse replaced it in 1881. View items that were excavated during the 2018 archeological dig. Take a walking tour of the surrounding historic area within Fort Story at 11am, 1pm and 3pm, climb to the top of the Old Cape Henry Lighthouse at your convenience.
