The American Helicopter Museum and Education Center, located in the land of industry innovators in the Philadelphia region, is the nation’s premier aviation museum devoted exclusively to helicopters. Established in 1996, the nonprofit organization collects, restores and displays rotary-wing aircraft, including over 35 civilian and military helicopters, autogyros and convertiplanes.

Exhibits

Star Trek Screen-Used Props and Costumes Exhibit, Thursday, September 8-Sunday, November 27. AHMEC is excited to present a unique collection of screen-used and production-made artifacts from Garrett Derr, Jr., of Project Stardate. Items that span decades include costumes, weapons, communicators, even pieces of the starship Enterprise! A delight for hard-core Trekkies and casual fans alike, this once-in-a-lifetime exhibit is a chance to peer behind the curtain and see some of the most iconic props from the Star Trek universe.

Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for and does not endorse the content of the participating museums and cultural venues, and does not subsidize museums that participate.
