J. Daniel Rogers is Emeritus Curator of Archaeology at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History. He is also affiliated with the Center for Social Complexity at George Mason University. He received B.A. and M.A. degrees from the University of Oklahoma and a Ph.D. in Anthropology from the University of Chicago. Over his career, he has conducted archaeological field research in several regions of the US, the Caribbean, Mexico, Peru, and East Asia. Since 2002, he has studied the early empires of Inner Asia and developed computational models to analyze the social and demographic implications of climate change.
