In celebration of our nation’s parks, this month’s Earth Optimism book pick is The Rise of the American Conservation Movement: Power, Privilege, and Environmental Protection by Dorceta Taylor, an influential environmental sociologist. Through her work and the chapters in this book, we will explore environmental justice in the context of American conservation – from establishing national parks and the exclusivity of outdoor recreation – with the hope of creating more equitable solutions and policies now and in the future.
