We Were All Female Once

In the first 5-6 weeks of embryonic development, the Y chromosome in male fetuses has yet to activate, making us all female (1:50)

There are some women who are genetically XY. Their bodies do not respond to the signals from the SRY region during development, so they grow up female.

So, during all these chromosome shifts, an error can occur, thus producing a variety of woman/man combinations.
