This man got some unique shots and views of these areas and had a wonderful eye for photographic subjects. Too bad they hadn't had color back then! Even so, his camera, for its time was interesting. I found the one with the bodies focused and the unfocused 'living horsemen' figures almost as ghosts to be one of the most interesting shots I've ever seen, capturing both battlefield horror and battle remnants of those who lived on to deal with the carnage and horror of war.

throughly enjoyed this article & photography....so much history and depth of history. In one sense I was saddened to see so much destruction and death and flash forward to today and realize not much has changed in 150 years, only that the killing machines are more efficient now.
