In 1957, Mexico’s scrawny players overcame the odds to become the first foreign team to win the Little League World Series

I was on an All Star Little League Team from Bisbee Arizona that year, in 1957. We were Arizona Little League State Champions. We played La Mesa California for the right to go to the Little League World Series. It took two days to play the game, and was tied 3 to 3, and play had to be stopped because of darkness. Next day play continued and La Mesa won 4 to 3. We would of liked to have played the team from Monterry Mexico, if, we had won against La Mesa California. It would of been an Honor. I recognized some of the players from La Mesa in the movie..

Great sport story. This team from Monterrey Mexico endured so much before winning the championship at Williamsport, PA.

My husband, Mark W. Ranck (well known in Williamsport for his musicianship) was at this game when he was seven. It was fun to experience one of his cherished memories. The one thing that hit me about these little Giants was that in this era of compromise, it was so refreshing to see kids stand up for their faith in God. How God blesses children of faith!

They came to be known as “Los pequeños gigantes,” the little giants.
In baseball, a game full of real and imagined fairy tales from Bobby Thomson’s “Shot Heard ’Round the World” to Bernard Malamud’s fable The Natural, no story may be more inspiring or surprising than the story of the 1957 Little League team from Monterrey, Mexico. they r the best!!!

If this is not an act of faith then I don't know what it is...To think that they were willing to give up everyting, if they didn't get God's blessings before the starting of their biggest game is what gets to me. I haven't seen that kind of faith in a long time!

Just bought and watched the movie "The Perfect Game". I loved it. I would recommend it very highly.

What a great team! I wish we would have more of this type of work ethic today!
