I always visit the Hope when I'm at the Smithsonian - just to make sure you're taking good care of it for me. (I figure it's mine as well as every other American's.) The stone's rather macabre history only makes it more hypnotically gorgeous.

How did the diamond magically get from India where it was discovered, to France? Why were the next owners "thieves" who stole it from France, when the French themselves were not called thieves for taking it from India?

So what happened to the rest of the 64.48 carats? Where are they and whom has them? is it possible there is a few 10-15 carat stones out there? maybe even a 20-25 carat stone?

I have learned a lot on the Smithsonian emails that I get. I do not have TV so therefore I learn more by emails It was very interesting to see about The Hope Diamond. Thank you Smithsonian. I never knew about it. Thanks, Gail

It worked for me. Cute.
