Featuring acts such as the Beach Boys, James Brown and the Rolling Stones, The T.A.M.I. Show defined popular music for a generation

I saw the Beach Boys in concert in Buffalo, NY about two months prior to the T.A.M.I. filming. I did not see the film at the time, but this clip captures a performance similar to the one I observed: the original members at their peak. I've always felt that Brian Wilson mashed-up the vocal styles of the Four Freshmen and the Hi-Los with the instrumental energy of the Ventures and the Shadows. Kudos to the Smithsonian for this.

Wonderful video. I'm surprised to see that the aspect ratio of the video is slightly off (it's vertically stretched). Disappointing on a Smithsonian site. Possibly a browser technical issue they are not aware of. I'm viewing on Mac OSX 10.6 using Firefox 3.6

I am 78. At times I find it so hard to believe the resources we have today to access the past--survey today--invetigate projections. The Smithsonian is vital to inquiry, thinking, humane and human living.

It is very interesting to see the beach boys perform "I Get Around" after so many years.
