MY AUNT, VERONICA STARK AND HER HUSBAND, JOHN OWNED A CABIN ON LITTLE PEQUOT LAKE IN MINNESOTTA. BOTH WERE GOOD FISHERMEN. ONE EVENING SHE WAS CASTING FOR BASS. AN OWL, DON'T KNOW WHAT KIND WAS PREVALENT IN THE AREA IN THE LATE FORTIES OR EARLY FIFTIES. AN OWL SWOOPED DOWN ON HER LURE AND CAUGHT THE LURE. THIS STORY WAS PAINTED AND MADE THE COVER OF ONE OF THE SPORTS MAGAZINES. ANYBODY KNOW WHICH MAGAZINE AND WHICH ISSUE. I REALIZE THAT THIS COMMENT IS NOT ABOUT THE ISSUE OF ONE OWL REPLACING ANOTHER AS THE DOMINANT OWL IN AN AREA BUT IT IS ABOUT OWLS.

I TRIED WRITING TO THE LIKELY MAGAZINES BUT COULD NOT FIND ONE THAT KEEPS TRACK OF WHAT WAS ON THEIR COVER WHEN IT WAS NOT A RECENT COVER.

THANK YOU.

EDWARD B. FEEHAN, M.D.
