I've always been fascinated by miniatures, even collected some (never quite made the dollhouse though) until they were stolen. I read about this display in the Smithsonian (which I subscribe to) and had to look it up on the net. Very nice short video. Can hardly wait to see the this display when I visit next. Does the Smithsonian ask for contributors? In Shippensburg, PA there is a talented artist (Ernest Helm) who has created a beautiful miniature world in his back yard. A whole town in miniature. Absolutely beautiful in every detail. Locally we have known about it for years and what a treat it is to see what he's added every year. Maybe someday his wonderful display could become one that all could see though the Smithsonian. Here is a link I found: http://www.roadsideamerica.com/story/11165
The Smithsonian preserves and shares with the world that is unique and extraordinary. Thank you for that.

I am one of those who was inspired by my visit to the Bradford dollhouse to create a large dollhouse with a story about the family who lived there. Together my wife and I created a family tree and a story about the dollhouse family, who had first names of real people from our family trees. Thanks for sharing the dollhouse video so that those who can't see it in person can learn about it. Thanks also for the book, America's Dollhouse which I hope to look at soon.

We loved the short video on the dollhouse. My granddaughters, Holly age 4 and Geneva age 6, would love to see more photos of the rooms. Is is possible to post more pictures of the beautiful rooms?

Thank you!

The child within had never been able to have the things she wanted. At least they never seemed to last; but I don't remember not taking care of them; it seems they just disappeared. I had one of those two-story metal doll houses with accessories twice in my life, but actually spent most of my time outside creating towns and roads and dirt houses always wishing I had real miniatures to put in the towns. Back in the 1940s in the town of San Bernardino, CA the Harris Co. always put up a winter display with moving miniatures every winter. I always looked forward to seeing what they came up with each year. I would love to see the home you have there. Possibly some day....

I am a girl of 88. My first dollhouse was a cardboard box lined with wallpaper samples and filled with trashed metal Tootsietoy miniatures found in a neighbor's house after the owners moved out. I never lost my love of miniatures and have loved many--Collen Moore's in Chicago, Queen Mary's in England to highlight a couple. My childrwn filled a 16 room plywood house with many hand made items including a piano and an ashtray complete with reasl ashes. It was the first hing wisitors went for. We all regret that no photos were made of our family hobby. Who knew how the memoriew would be cherished? I have seen your dollhouse several times and it rates with the best.

I just visited this museum yesterday, and was delighted to come upon this charming display, after having read an article on the dollhouse recently in a magazine.

It was a wonderful display. My only complaint was that the delighted children in the informal line before me stood so long, I never got the lingering look I wished for, but I hope it will be there to delight those and other children (and myself) for years to come!
