While I hope, I am not so optimistic about the next forty years. In fact, I think one has to take the much longer view of fifty to hundred years. Only, then am I more optimistic. If only because, history has shown us, slavery, the holocaust and the civil rights movement serve to remind us that, while advancements in technology arise quickly, human beings are much, much slower in realizing the harm and horror we ourselves inflinct on one another and the world in which we live. Of which, sadly, we justify if only for the advancement of technological advancments in the name of the all mighty dollar for the sake of the already too rich.
