Thanks to an extensive restoration and conservation process, the public can now see how Jefferson cut and pasted his own version of the Scripture

The fascination with Thomas Jefferson is fascinating. I'm not related, (I don't think I'm a descendant of Sally) but I have discovered a kindred spirit exists between me and the old man - regarding organized religion and such. I also have a book very similar to that Bible of his. It's in my heart. My own creation as well.

Thomas Jefferson was my husband's first cousin, many generations removed. He has red hair like Jefferson, a trait carried down in the Railey/Randolph line. We also own a copy of a 'Jefferson Bible' and look forward to purchasing a copy of his original Bible.
Thank you for restoring this national treasure.

Sue, I have a 1989 copy of Beacon Press's publication of The Jefferson Bible, very precious to me because it was a Christmas gift from my father in 1994. Other than a facsimile of two facing pages of text from Jefferson's original, this book contains only the English translation of the scriptures he included. This would explain the difference in size.
A full facsimile is available online at the Library of Congress at http://memory.loc.gov/cgi-bin/ampage?collId=mtj7&fileName=mtj7page059.db&recNum=458.

I was fascinated to see and hear about this. Pres. Jefferson is a first cousin several times removed to me. And, his life and character are so important to us in this time that, I love hearing anything about him. Such detail in his bible is precious to me and many others, I'm sure.
Thanks for presenting this so we may know more about him.
I wonder if you are going to reveal the text of the bible?
I have a comercial copy of what I hear called his 'personal' bible but, it is not anywhere near the size of the one you are speaking of here. I hope this bible, is in the Smithsonian and will be available for viewing.
