Monday, November 3

Just Opened "Fritz Scholder: Indian/Not Indian" is a major two-city exhibition with shows opening concurrently at the National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, D.C. and at its New York City location, the George Gustav Heye Center. Free.

Tuesday, November 4

Vote First then Hang Out at the Postal Museum at "Politics and the Post," a special gallery cart exhibition to learn about a 1970s-era brouhaha when Postmaster General Winton "Red" Blount, Jr. made some controversial changes at the department. Free.

Wednesday, November 5

Ask an Expert Air and Space historian Roger Launius holds forth at noon on the on the seven-year, three-billion mile voyage of NASA's Stardust capsule. The explorer boldly went where no man had gone before—into to the tail of a comet to capture particles of dust, which it duly returned to Earth for study. Meet at the Museum Seal at the National Air and Space Museum at noon. Free.

Thursday, November 6

Musical Calculations In this fast-paced evening program with live performances and film clips, National Symphony Orchestra Yvonne Caruthers, flutist Aaron Goldman and percussionist Daniel Villanueva demonstrate the mathematical concepts in music. $40 general admission, $30 members. 7 PM at the S. Dillon Ripley Center.

Friday, November 7

Get Your Dance On Baltimore-based musician and Wham City alum Dan Deacon is all high-energy, electro-pop at the Hirshhorn from 8 PM until midnight. Deacon gets you grooving with a tabletop of eclectic gizmos, such as a sine wave generator, a makeshift light board and a green skull strobe light. $10 in advance, or $12 at the door. Saturday, November 8

Artist in Residence Performance artist Mary Coble invites visitors to explore art made with nontraditional, yet familiar, materials in hands-on workshops at the Hirshhorn, 10 AM to Noon for ages 6 to 9 and at 1 PM to 3 PM for ages 10 to 13. Free, but space is make a reservation.
