WEAVING PATTERNS

These images are taken at Chhat Gopalpur , Cooch Behar , West Bengal , India. Bamboo crafts are widely used in India for several purposes in daily life. The strong and durable bamboo products are very popular and bamboo crafts are practiced by many families all over India. The procured bamboo is first cleaned and its outer layer is removed. Making process starts by splitting lengthy bamboo into small thin pieces. Then these splits are used to make different types of products. Approximately one person can make about two to three baskets in a day and these baskets are sold at a rate of about Rs.30 to Rs.40 only. They do not get the price that they actually deserve for their artistry.
