Kotor Sustainable Fish Farm

Via my educational outreach, there were some question regarding sustainable farmed fish. Farmed fish and seafood has sort of a bad reputation in some green circles. But there are a number of cases where farming can actually be a good thing -- for water quality, the health of the fish or seafood in question, and the aquatic environment as a whole. Last summer I visited Kotor Montenegro and spent some time at a sustainable fish farm to learn about this operation so I can answer question from students. Currently in cages they grow sea bass and sea bream. There is also the plantation of shellfish and mussels that are of exceptional quality, due to locations. They demonstrated that sustainable fish farm is a great way to save our natural fish stocks and ocean.
