Asmat Mask Dance

We were visiting Yahunyufri village in the Asmat region of Indonesia. We were one of the very few western groups allowed to visit this village. They weren't planning to allow the visit, but the fireflies descended on the village the night before we arrived, which was a sign that they should allow the visit. They performed a mask dance that hadn't been performed for 20 years. We were truly fortunate to witness this.
