Majuli, the world’s largest river island, is said to be the heartland of the ‘Neo-vaishnavite’ religion.In Vaishnab Sattra[monastery] , Lord Vishnu is to be worshipped through prayers, the playing of drums and cymbals, devotional songs and theatrical performances. Here in this photograph, the little monks are preparing themselves for the theatrical performances.
