India Blue

I traded this man a pack of gum for his photograph, and he was more than happy to let me take it. He had one of the most interesting faces in town and he knew it. A local told me he puts opium in his eyes to make them turn blue, but that may or may not be true. I got about a foot away from his face in the dusty back street of Udaipur India, quickly adjusted the settings on my 35mm without a light metre, crossed my toes, and clicked the shutter. I ran to get this film developed later this evening for a dollar and they printed it glossy when I asked for Mat. It is my favourite portrait I have ever taken.
