Life isn't just about finding yourself, it's about creating yourself - and this is how she is defining herself through her art. She likes to start with a black canvas and paint her subjects in white tones. She thinks this is a metaphor for how we define ourselves from the darkness of the unknown - no matter how much light we bring, turning that black canvas into white is a life's work.
