Water Amour

A male American toad amplexes with a female in the Beaverkill River of the Catskills. Nearby, dozens of other males are calling for mates; some of them are as successful as this male has been. Amphibians are experiencing rapid declines worldwide, though fortunately such declines have not yet been observed in the Northeastern US.
