Pearl Spotted Owlet in Marakele National Park

This Pearl Spotted Owlet is a bold and tiny bird! It came in close enough to allow this shot. While living nearly off the grid in Africa, I was able to introduce people to species other than the Big 5 and show that there is so much out there that needs protection. Local people learn that visitors like me bring them jobs, boost the economy, and soon see the value in these places and also take part in their conservation rather than degradation.
