OVIPOSITION

While a female of Damselfly lays eggs the male keeps other potential mates away by remaining claspers (cerci), located on the male’s abdomen, have a shape unique to each species of Damselfly. By oviposition underwater, females decrease the risk that their eggs become exposed.
