I came across this intelligently built (protected from rain by leaf as roof) violet-headed humming bird nest in the Rara Avis nature reserve, Costa Rica. Rara Avis means "rare bird" and this photo really reflects what this place is all about. Difficult to spot and right next to a huge waterfall, this humming bird nest is a little jewel in the beautiful but often hostile environment of the rainforest.
