Green Crested Basilisk

Green Crested Basilisk, National Zoo, Washington, DC. These lizards are found in the jungles of Central and South America. They are always found near water. When frightened they can run across the surface of the water on their hind legs for several yards and because of this they are called the the Jesus Christ Lizard by the local people.
