Capped mushrooms (Basidomycota) in Everglades, National Park

The image is that of mushrooms resident on a nurse log in Mahogany Hammock, Everglades National Park, Florida. The tree canopy within the hammock is fairly complete. Therefore little direct sunlight makes it to ground level. The few shafts of light that penetrate all the way to the ground act like spotlights for whatever happens to be at the right place at the right time.
