Burrowing owl covered in sand after digging

Burrowing owl looks away from the burrow he was working diligently to dig. The owl's glaring expression suggests that digging is for the birds! This image was created in spring, in Cape Coral, southwestern Florida, a city with a large concentration of burrowing owls.
