Mr. Banks

Mr. Banks is a Red-Tailed Black Cockatoo who lives in the Australian Rainforest aviary at the Adelaide Zoo. During my year-long travels throughout Australia, wild black cockatoos all but managed to evade me -- I caught mere glimpses of two species on two occasions from afar, one after stopping and waiting an hour in the rain because I *heard* one and knew it had to be in that large inaccessible spot somewhere! Well cared for captive animals like Mr. Banks serve as ambassadors for their species as it is difficult not to connect and fall in love with black cockatoos after meeting this handsome, charismatic fellow (as I'm sure his many admirers will verify).
